In today’s fast-moving world, work should be seamless. It should be fast. But most of what we do every day is slowed down by ineffective meetings, confusing communication, and complex technology.
CloudApp is the bridge between a confusing world of text and a future of clairvoyance. Our mission is to revolutionize the modern workplace with visual communication.
That’s why CloudApp is bringing collections right to your desktop — to make all of your personal and team content collaborative and accessible right from your fingertips for quick access.
CloudApp Collections bring your content and workflow together. With Collections, you can access everything you need to work faster and instantly share the right content.
Collections allow you to organize your most important content, to keep it accessible from your menu bar or taskbar, and to instantly share with a colleague or customer.
Collections have many great use cases:
Customer Support: Provide the perfect visual answer to the most commonly asked questions. Rather than recreating the solution to a problem, support can just send a previously created video, screenshot, or GIF that has been shared with the team.
Marketing: collaboration between marketers, designers, and those that they support is key to any business success. With CloudApp collections you will be able to see and share work cross – org for marketing and design campaigns with videos, GIFs, and screenshots. Skip the long email or marked up PDF share a video in a collection instead. Any time you’re trying to track down design assets, your latest logo update, or a new design, just find it your Design collection
Sales: The average B2B business cycle can take months to complete. That leaves lots of time for reps to keep in touch with customers along the way. With sales collections, you can house best in class pre-recorded videos from the sales rep associated with the deal to be sent out along the way through automation or ad hoc. Can also be great for training
Engineering: Instantly accessible videos for how to debug a problem, perform a server reset, or what’s the best way to solve a complex engineering task – it can all be captured, saved, and shared. Quickly review bugs and code reports stored in a CloudApp collection.
Onboarding/HR: Save videos or images of how new employees can get acquainted with your company intranet, team tools, or anything else that can help bring them up to speed quicker.
Say Hello to an Alternative Way to View Your Drops
CloudApp introduces a new desktop design . We’re rolling it out today for Mac, and will soon follow with a similarly beautiful UI for Windows in the coming weeks. Our objective with this new interface is to make access to your most recent content, as well as anything you’ve organized and favorited instantly accessible. Just click and select the tab that you’d like to pull your content from.
The Collections tab will allow you to view Collections you’ve created, and that your team, or colleagues have shared with you. You’ll also be able to easily create new collections and organize them alphabetically. We’ll have additional filters for Collection organization in upcoming releases.
The Favorites tab will allow you to view items you’ve favorited. Just select the Star icon next to one of your items, and it will instantly be added to that tab.
Windows users fear not, you will be getting a new UI as well. We are currently working on that now and should have it for you soon :).
Go Dark with Dark Mode
CloudApp introduces dark mode. Now, whenever you switch from ‘Light’ mode to ‘Dark’ in the Mac System settings, CloudApp will automatically switch over.
Sharing with a New URL
CloudApp has used CL.LY for years as its default sharing URL. This URL has presented many challenges, foremost among them is the lack of clarity to a new user for why they’ve signed up at Getcloudapp.com but now they are seeing another URL to share. Our mission at CloudApp is to revolutionize the modern workplace with visual communication, not to confuse our customers with unrelated URLs. Going forward, we will simplify newly generated links to share.getcloudapp.com.
Customer Friendly – The share.getcloudapp.com links make it clear to the end viewer what they are clicking and make them feel safer viewing the content. For paid users, we will continue to offer the ability to customize sharing links with your own custom domain. And we’re adding something that’s been highly requested…
Greater Security with Custom SSL – With the new share.getcloudapp.com links you can add your own SSL certificate, or use a free one from LetsEncrypt to customize your domain and add enhanced security
Increased views of your content – We have seen that share.getcloudapp.com provides a more clear URL that you can visit and review to understand what you’re clicking
Love the old Short URL? We’ll continue to provide access to a version of cl.ly for paid customers that will have a slight change and appear as “a.cl.ly/URL_HERE” as we move from an older system to a new system.
A Few More Exciting Features
We can’t list them all, but here are a few more features that are live today with this new update to our desktop apps:
- Update the content behind a link, even after you’ve sent it, by uploading a new version of the file
- Request that a user enter their email address before they can visit your content
- Disable downloads of a file, video, or asset that you’ve shared
- Share a Collection with everyone in your organization with just 1 click
- Share a Collection publically with just a URL, no account or email required to view
- Catalina for OSX will soon be available, and our team has been hard at work beta testing it to ensure CloudApp will be ready for its release!
