Process Bugs Faster in JIRA with CloudApp Capture

Yotzin Cortes

If you need to easily give feedback to your dev team or help your coworker troubleshoot, we now have the power combo: JIRA software + CloudApp.

With our add-on, you get all of the benefits of CloudApp’s easy-to-use visual communication features: annotable screenshots, screen recordings and GIFs PLUS the project management superpowers of JIRA software 💪.

We understand how important efficient visual communication is when talking product. It’s our everyday as well 😏.

Getting started

Before getting down to business with JIRA software, here are a handful of useful links to get you up to speed with how to use CloudApp:

What is a drop?

How to create screenshots

How to upload files

How to sign up for a free account

Installing the add-on

The first thing you have to do is install the add-on. For this you might need to secure admin privileges (or ask an admin to do it for your organization). Then, click on “Get it now”. Follow the steps until completion of the installation process.

Linking accounts

Now, linking your CloudApp and Jira accounts is super simple. Open any JIRA story and look to the middle-right section where it reads “CloudApp”. Click on “Link your CloudApp account” and authorize. You’re set! Just make sure that you’ve also downloaded our desktop app to capture the visuals you want to add to JIRA.

If you ever need to unlink your account, simply go to your personal settings under your avatar on the upper-right corner, and click on the unauthorize button. Like this.

Browsing drops

Having your drops always available and ready to be inserted is one of the most sought after features of our integration. We have created a dedicated CloudApp section within each JIRA story on the right of the description section. This way you can easily find and insert your latest screenshots or GIFs and videos. They are organized from most recent first. To find your oldest drops, scroll down the frame until you find what you’re looking for.

Inserting drops

To insert a drop, click on the “Add drop” button and done! You’ll now see them under the “Drops” section of your story, right below the description.

Searching for drops

If you’re looking for something specific (or a drop created a while ago), you can use the search bar to find it. Just type down what you’re looking for. This includes visual search capabilities, which means that you can search not just by drop titles, but also by color or word contents within images 😮

Seeing inserted drops

Once drops are inserted, you can see them in all their glory by clicking on them. This will open a new tab and redirect to the original drop link. Very useful if you need to use our annotation feature.

Deleting inserted drops

To remove a drop from a JIRA story simply click on the trash bin icon on the lower-right corner of the drop itself.

So, that’s it! We hope that this new integration makes your everyday tasks easier and faster. Let us know how it works for you and don’t hesitate to send feedback  at And, of course, if you haven’t already, you can sign up for a free CloudApp account here.

Happy sharing!
