CloudApp in Gmail

What are we releasing today?

You now have the ability to paste a Zight (formerly CloudApp) link directly in Gmail and see a beautiful, rich thumbnail that lets you more easily show what you’re trying to share.

Here’s a quick example:

How can I get started?

In order to see the thumbnail of your content, what we call ‘unfurling’, you’ll need to install our new Zight (formerly CloudApp) for Chrome Extension. Once you have created a free Zight (formerly CloudApp) account, learn how to capture screenshots.

The Chrome Extension helps you take any Zight (formerly CloudApp) link that you’ve created and magically change it into a rich thumbnail. You can consider the Chrome Extension either a ‘helper’ or a lightweight version of Zight (formerly CloudApp) for Mac and Windows. Other benefits of the Chrome Extension include full page screenshots, webcam recording, and tab and full screenshots.

What to expect

This new Zight (formerly CloudApp) unfurl experience is a new feature that we look forward to improving and adding new features to. As you use this Chrome Extension, please give us any feedback or bug reports that you find by sending a message to our support team here. When using the Chrome Extension and link unfurling you’ll be able to see an inline rich preview of:

  • Screenshots
  • GIFS
  • Videos

Here’s a quick GIF that shows you exactly how this works in Gmail.

Benefits of Video/Images in emails:

Videos in sales prospecting, sales demos, training, and internal communication emails see 5x higher open rates and 8x higher open-to-reply rates. You can read more about some of the many benefits here.
